What's Going on at St. Francis

10/23/2025

October 30, 2025
At this Sunday's All Saints' celebration, we'll remember and honor the saints of our lives who've loved, taught and shaped us. This will include an opportunity to light a candle in their memory and say their names aloud. Those worshipping from home who wish to fully participate in this portion of the liturgy will want to have a candle available. Those who've been buried through Saint Francis since our 2024 All Saints' celebration will be named in the Eucharistic prayer. Though this is a celebratory service, it's also a solemn one. Because of its solemnity, we'll delay the children's Joyful Noise collection one week to November 9.

A Message from Brother James Dowd: The Benedictine Way's All Souls Service     Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8am CT / 7am MT
All are invited to attend The Benedictine Way’s annual All Souls Service on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8am CT / 7am MT, in-person at Incarnation Monastery (3020 Belvedere Blvd., Omaha) or live streamed online on our YouTube Channel. Together we will pray in remembrance of loved ones who have gone before us.

A Message from Mary
Greetings Friends:

It is really Fall now! We have had our first hard freeze, leaves are changing and there is a bit of a nip in the air. It is a time of change and anticipation. Many of us are starting to think about the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays – so much to do, so many plans to make!

Fall is also traditionally the time when the Vestry starts working on the Budget for the coming year. A part of that process is planning for our Fall Pledge campaign. Now, I know some of you will be thinking “Didn’t we just go through a Pledge campaign?”.

You are right! Because we did not have a Fall Pledge campaign in 2024, we did not have firm giving numbers as a foundation for our 2025 Budget. So, we undertook a Spring Giving campaign to give you an opportunity to let us know your giving commitments for 2025. Now we are back on track to have our giving campaign in the Fall in conjunction with our budget preparation. Your Vestry is committed to providing a balanced budget for 2026. So, we need to know your financial commitment as a basis for that budget.

The Stewardship and Engagement team has given a lot of thought to what this Fall Pledge campaign should look like. Our theme for this year’s campaign is “St Francis – Christ, Connection, Community”. You will not receive a letter. You will not receive a phone call. We will have 2026 Pledge cards available in the Narthex beginning Sunday, 11/2. You are welcome to take a Pledge card home as you prayerfully consider your giving for 2026. Bring your Pledge card back on Christ the King Sunday (11/23) when we will consecrate all of the pledged gifts.

I close with this thought:
“When stewardship is ministry, lives are transformed in the giving of gifts to change and repair a broken world as we reconcile ourselves to God.”
(Project Resource)

For His Sake,
Mary
