  • Two brave young ladies provide worship leadership for the entire camp. (We were in our pajamas that evening because it was movie night!)

  • MOSES (aka the Reverend Robert Magoola of Saint Marks-on-the-Campus, Lincoln) was able to join us at Camp again this year! We enjoyed his energetic story-telling and sincerity.

  • My two cats, Cider Sebastian and Remus Reginald, clearly had feelings about being left behind! "Humommi, what is this 'camp' of which you speak? And how could it pawsibly be more impurrtant than two handsome tabbies?!!"

We’re looking for 8–10 friends to join the FREE Kickball Tournament on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from Noon–4 PM!
Only one teammate needs to sign up, so if you would like to message me with the names and ages (over 14 or under 14 is specific enough) I can sign up the teams.(Sarah 308-240-1588)
Remember, if you don't envision yourself as a kickball athlete, stand in recruits are accepted. Think about your kids or grandkids, neighbors or friends who owe you one. It would be a great way to show the community involvement of the church in a fun way.
Move quickly, the Sign-up Deadline: Sunday, August 17, 2025!
This event is Hosted by: Scottsbluff Parks & Recreation and the Beef, Beans & Bluegrass Festival

A Note from the Rector: Accessing Pastoral Care

I'm available to provide pastoral care 24/7. If you or a family member are admitted to the hospital, whether planned or unplanned, please call (rather than text) me on my cell. If you or a family member are admitted through the emergency room, please call (rather than text) my cell as soon as you can, even if it's the middle of the night. We've confirmed with Regional West that they will not call me to inform me of your hospitalization. Unless you or a family member call, I won't know of your hospitalization and won't have the opportunity to visit you. With rare exception, if you're hospitalized locally, I'll visit the same day I receive communication that you're in the hospital. If you have surgery at a hospital out of town, I would like the opportunity to pray with you beforehand. (If you want, this can include a visit at your home.) If you don't have my cell number, please ask me or check your most recent directory (published earlier this year). If you still need a copy of that directory, please let the front office know. ~Thanks, Rev. Erin+

                                          A Message from Mary
Greetings!

I hope your summer is going well and that you have been able to enjoy the warm weather.

In response to feedback from several Parishioners during our Spring Giving Campaign, we completed a cost-benefit analysis related to changes in our weekly worship bulletin.  We specifically looked at the costs for printing the bulletin in the current format versus the costs that would be associated with a “skinny” version of the bulletin.  Here are the results of that analysis.
  • The current version of the bulletin costs $21.94 per week.  The “skinny” version would cost $9.96 per week.  There would be a savings of $11.98 ($662.96/yr).
  • If we went to the “skinny” version, we would need to purchase large print Book of Common Prayer, large print Bibles as well as Lift Every Voice and Sing (LEVAS) songbooks.  The one-time costs for these supplementary materials would be $2,753.50.
  • It would take 4.26 years to break-even on this change.
  • Other factors we considered included:
  • Per 2022 worship survey, 80.4% of respondents preferred a print bulletin to juggling prayer book and hymnals.  Further, this juggling act would be difficult for visitors.
  • We currently use the 1982 Hymnal, LEVAS and Wonder, Love & Praise for our music selections.  None of these are available in large print.
  • If we did not purchase copies of LEVAS and Wonder, Love & Praise, our repertoire would not include a number of favorites such as It is Well with My Soul; the Old Rugged Cross; How Great Thou Art and I Come to the Garden Alone.
Taking all of this into account, your Vestry determined that we should continue with our current bulletin format.
If you would like to underwrite one or more weeks of printing the bulletin, you can do so by writing “Weekly Bulletin” in the memo line on your check.

For His Sake,

Mary

Call for Volunteers – Labor Day Weekend at 5 Rocks! 🎉

Hi everyone,
We’re getting ready for an exciting opportunity to get the word about the Laundry Love mission out to the community.
Horizons Music Festival is at 5 Rocks over Labor Day weekend, and we need your help! We will have a booth to promote this ministry and collect any laundry themed donations.
We’re looking for volunteers to sign up for a 1-2 hour shift on either Saturday, August 31 or Sunday, September 1. It’s a fun and relaxed way to support a great cause, enjoy the community atmosphere, and help make the Laundry Love mission a success!

📍 Booth Info
  • Booth will be located to the south as you drive into 5 Rocks--back away from the concert stage.
  • We expect more specific location and parking pass details soon, and I’ll pass those along as they come in.

🗓 Volunteer Schedule Saturday, Aug 31:
  • Booth setup begins at 2:00 PM (The 2-4pm slot is covered by the Methodist Church Laundry Love group).
  • Volunteers are needed starting Saturday at 4:00 PM.
  • The event runs until 10:00 PM, but you’re not expected to stay the whole time 😊.
Sunday, Sept 1:
  • Volunteers can start around 3:30 PM.
  • Shifts are flexible—just 1–2 hours per person is perfect.
  • It’s even better with a partner, so feel free to team up!
===
Thank you in advance for being part of this effort! Whether you can give a couple of hours or help spread the word, it truly makes a difference.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Warmly,
Sarah Schaaf

We have a number of people on the prayer chain list who have cancer, chronic illness or long-term conditions, as well as some who are in need of prayer for temporary circumstances.
The names are emailed weekly to our Prayer Team Partners.  Beginning in August 2025, the names on the long-term list will be emailed at the beginning of each month, and the weekly prayer chain email will list all other names for two weeks.
If you wish to put a name on the prayer list for the Sunday bulletin, please contact the church office. These names are included in the weekly prayer chain email.
For prayer chain requests, if you wish to become a member of the Prayer Team Partners that receive names weekly, or if you have any questions concerning the prayer chain, please contact Connie Schingle at [email protected].
