Thursday Announcements-August 22, 2024
ERIN’S EPISTLETTES
  • There are a few youth and children's ministry-related events happening or beginning over the next few weeks.
  • Our Godly Play program resumes the Sunday after Labor Day. Co-leaders Barb Manasek and Peggy Wymore continue to integrate new curriculum purchased last year. I look forward to hearing what the children learn from material both new and old and am grateful for the team of adults whose hard work creates a safe and sacred space for our children!
  • I'm delighted to announce Saint Francis will hold a joint youth group with First Presbyterian this school year. Gatherings will be Sunday evenings. Parents and teens, look for more detailed information in the coming weeks.
  • We'll once again celebrate Gold Sunday in support of childhood cancer survivors on September 8. Plan to wear something gold that Sunday!
  • The Western Deanery will gather at Saint Francis Saturday, September 7. A presentation by those who attended General Convention begins at 10, but folks are welcome to gather as early as 9. The morning closes out with Eucharist and lunch. All Saint Francis members are invited and encouraged to attend and learn more about ministry happening in the wider church!

This Sunday, the 25th, Godly Play will be meeting after the 10am service, upstairs in the Sunday School room.
This meeting is for our regular teachers and helpers of Godly Play (and any interested new people with questions or curiosities -- i.e. parents,
potential teachers or helpers
, etc.).
Feel free to bring your refreshments along when you come.

The next Soup Kitchen will be August 29th, @ 4:30, at the Presbyterian Church.  We’d love to have additional help.   Contact Rick Gable at 672-7839.

The Daughters of the King are continuing to collect pill bottles. Please remove the labels, wash the bottle/cap, and replace the cap.
Bottles can be placed in the designated box in the church narthex. The bottles are shipped to Matthew 25 Ministries in Ohio.
This organization sends the bottles to clinics around the world where bottles are not readily available.
Thank you for your continued support of this important ministry.

The Daughters of the King have changed their regular meeting to 6:00 pm on the second Thursday of the month at the church.
They previously met at 1:30 pm. It is our hope that this evening time may work better for prospective members who have daytime commitments.
If you’re interested in learning more about Daughters of the King, please talk to any DOK member or go to their website DOKNational.org.
The next meeting is Thursday, August 8 at 6:00 pm and interested persons are welcome to attend.

Prayer Requests *If you want your request printed in the bulletin, please make sure it's received by Tuesday.
You may call (308) 632-4626 (leave a message) or
 email [email protected].

The Forward Day by Day’s for August-October are here in regular and large print.
If you’d like one of these mailed to you, please email or call the church.
