Weddings in the Episcopal Church are almost always performed in the church and for members and their families. Often we are asked to perform a wedding for someone we have not yet met, which is entirely possible but requires some planning in order that we can get to know each other and conform to our church regulations and parish policies. Other times we are asked to allow another faith tradition to use our facility for the purpose of a wedding, which we are rarely able to accommodate.
In the Episcopal Church, Marriage is a sacrament, not to be entered into lightly or without preparation and forethought. We require couples to enter into a counseling process with one of our priests and provide some necessary paperwork. All weddings conform to the rubrics of the Church, which can be found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.
