We are sacramental
While we may differ in our theologies, The Episcopal Church celebrates the seven sacraments as many other Christian denominations, namely; Baptism, Holy Eucharist (also known as Communion), Confirmation, Marriage, Ordination, Reconciliation, and Unction (anointing of the sick). We believe something real and spiritual happens in each sacrament, and we treat them as such. We celebrate Eucharist every week, and believe that in that moment, with the Priest (or Bishop) presiding, and with the community gathered, and with the elements of bread and (real) wine, Jesus becomes really present in and among us. We call it a mystery, and don't try to pin it down more than that, but we do believe it to be a real event involving the Risen Lord.

We are liturgical
Having our roots in the English Reformation and modeling our worship after that of the Church of England, we find strength and wisdom in faithful use of a set of approved worship forms that are used by Episcopal parishes wherever they are found. We call these forms our "liturgy" and we find them in our Book of Common Prayer, which is updated somewhat regularly as needed by the national church.

We are welcoming
Every church says they are welcoming and they believe it to be true. We are no different. People tell us that is one of the things they most notice when they first visit. However, everyone is different and every week we start fresh, so we can't guarantee that we won't miss the mark on welcoming. We can only say that it is our deep desire to be welcoming to all, no matter who they are, where they come from, or who they love, and to invite them to be a part of our common life. We hope that is your experience.
