FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. This Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of All Saints at both services by lighting candles, reading names, and ringing bells to honor and remember of those we love but have lost. This is always a special and moving service, and I hope you will find it so again.
  2. PLEDGE DRIVE UPDATE: Pledge cards can be dropped off in a designated box in the narthex this Sunday and next, or you can mail them or drop them off in the office. You can also email Ann with your 2022 pledge. On Sunday November 21 we will gather all the pledges and bless them. Following both services that morning we will celebrate with a cake and coffee reception in the parish hall. Our Pledge Drive this year is again more subdued than in years past, which just seems appropriate in that we are not quite back to normal gatherings. Nevertheless, giving has been strong and you continue to amaze with your faith and generosity. Thank you for all your support for this parish and its ministries! I believe God is using us in marvelous ways here in our corner of God’s Kingdom.

FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Last week clergy and delegates from across the diocese gathered in Lincoln for our Annual Council. Lots of laughs and reconnecting with old friends, capped by an amazing Holy Eucharist – one without equal in my memory. On Friday, the Bishop gave a profound and moving address, which you can find on the diocesan facebook page. I highly recommend it to you.
  2. The Rev. Tom Jones, Rector of Church of the Holy Spirit in Bellevue, is leading a trip to the Holy Land in May 2022. Fr. Tom is an excellent priest and a good friend, and I can recommend this trip without hesitation. For more information contact Fr. Tom directly at frtom@chsepiscopal.org
  3. Monday November 1st we will celebrate on the Feast of All Saints with a Eucharist Service at 12:00-1:00 P.M. in the sanctuary. Additionally, the labyrinth will be setup in the parish hall Monday afternoon for anyone interested in contemplative prayer, perhaps in memory of a beloved family saint.
  4. St. Francis COVID-19 Mask Policy for November – due to continued high levels of both infections and hospitalizations in our community we will extend our mask requirement in worship through Nov 30. This is not an easy decision and I don’t make it lightly or in a vacuum. Once again this week I reached out to medical experts in our church and local hospitals and the advice I received was that the safest way forward is to continue with masks indoors in worship for at least another 30 days. We do have an excellent video feed linked from our website www.saintf.org for anyone that prefers this option.
  5. Food Bank of the Heartland will be set up at the Good Shepherd of the Plains Episcopal Church in Harrisburg on November 5th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. giving away perishable and non-perishable food items free of charge. Please communicate to anyone you know who is food insecure. If you would like to assist with food distribution, please arrive at Good Shepherd approximately an hour early.

FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Quarterly Giving Statements were sent out this week via email (hard copies to those without email). Please take a good look and let us know if we’ve missed anything. And as always, we are so very grateful for your continued generous support of this parish!
  2. The curb/gutter/sidewalk project should be completed this week, and we expect the driveway and back parking lot to be fully accessible once again. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work to make our building and grounds both attractive and safe.
  3. Our partners at First Presbyterian are hosting a regional meeting and will not be available to host Youth Group this week, so no meeting Sunday, next meeting is Sunday. Oct 31st Trunk or Treat.
  4. Our elevator from the office level to the parish hall is down for repairs. Weather permitting, the serviceperson from Cheyenne will be here next week. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  5. Today several from our church travel to Lincoln to attend the Diocesan Annual Council. Please pray for safe travel for us and for delegates across the Diocese as we gather once again to do the business of the church.

I had my plans set for the day and I was pleased with that, even proud of it.

FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Our sidewalk project continues and should be completed by next weekend. For this Sunday, the front entrance is fully accessible and should not be a problem. The driveway into the back lot may be used and there are a limited number of spaces available to park out back and use that door. Hang with us another week or so and this will be done, and we will have made a lasting investment in the appearance and safety of our grounds.
  2. Two quick notes about Youth Group:
    1. We have a sign-up sheet in the narthex for folks who would be willing to support the group by providing a meal. The Sundays we are assigned are listed on the sheet, the time is 5:30 P.M., and the meal can be about anything (ie: sandwiches or pizza or spaghetti, etc.) There are about 15 to feed and they are usually more hungry than picky J
    2. Sunday Oct 31st is Halloween, and so we are joining 1st Pres for a “Trunk or Treat” event 4:30-6:00 P.M. There is another sign-up sheet in the narthex if you would like to join in the fun by decorating the trunk of your vehicle and handing out candy to the young saints disguised as ghosts and goblins.
    3. The office will be sending out 3rd Quarter Giving Statements next week. When you receive yours, please review it and make sure our records match yours. We work hard to get it right but are not perfect and we absolutely want to make sure these statements are 100% correct.

FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1.  For the next two Sundays, as the City and Anderson-Shaw complete our curb and sidewalk project, parking in the back lot will be very limited. You can get in to the lot, but       only from the alley and it will be a mess getting turned around, so please park in Rosi’s or use the lot north of 20th and use the front doors to get in. I do apologize for the           inconvenience, but I think you will like the end result very much.
  2. Mark your calendars for Friday, November 5th at 7:00 P.M. when Pastor Darryl Burton will speak at First UMC in Scottsbluff about his personal story of wrongful murder conviction, 24-year imprisonment, final exoneration. After his release he obtained a Masters of Divinity degree and now serves Church of the Resurrection (United Methodist) in Leawood, KS, and travels the country speaking to lawyers about his past experience and congregations about current ministry. He is in town to speak to a legal conference and has graciously agreed to share his story that evening with local church members. I am very much looking forward to this event.
