Thursday Announcements February 24, 2022 FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS 1) Last night the vestry and I agreed that given the recent decline in COVID cases and hospitalizations, we will begin this Sunday to make masks optional in the church at all events including worship. I do believe this is a safe and prudent decision to make at this time. As always, be your own health advocate and do what is best for you, and please be kind to others as they make their choices. We’re all in this together as beloved children of God. 2) Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday when we will celebrate Holy Eucharist with the Imposition of Ashes. We will have two services at Noon and 6:00 P.M. This is one of the most meaningful services of the year for me and I highly recommend that all of our members attend. If you have last year’s palms you can bring them in this Sunday and we will burn them for ashes. 3) Is someone in your family graduating from High School or College this spring? We like to recognize our graduates and every year we worry that we aren’t capturing all the names and will leave someone out. So far we know about Melissa Moreno, Noah Moreno, and Julie Anderson-Saenz. Please email or call the office if you or someone in your family should also be included on our list. 4) Photo Directory Update Project — This Sunday look for an envelope containing data sheets for individuals and family members. Please pick up your envelope and review the information we have on file for you and if there are errors or omissions, make corrections and return the sheet(s) to Ann in the office by March 15th so that we can update our records and publish an accurate directory. Also, if you would like to submit a more current photo you can email it to the office, or you can have a new photo taken in the parish hall following both services on two Sundays — March 6th and April 3rd. Thanks for your help on this important project which will be a gift to your next rector as she/he arrives and begins connecting name with faces. ANN’S ADDITIONS Birthdays

NOTICE the good things that happen each day. GIVE THANKS for your blessings. MAKE an offering for each blessing. Blue boxes will be provided for you to place your bills and coins in during Lent. Each coin and bill transforms lives in the United States and around the world, and your blessings become blessings for others. On Easter Sunday the combined ingathering of donations will be blessed, and the money will be sent to The United Thank Offering. Mission Statement: United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through UTO, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. UTO is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and Provinces in the developing world. Thursday Announcements February 17, 2022 FATHER MARK’S ANNOUNCEMENTS 1) If you want to see just how wonderful you are, and how attractive this parish is, check out your Parish Profile on our website www.saintf.org. This is the document rector candidates will look at as they consider responding to your call. It is really quite good. And don’t just take my word for it. Yesterday I had lunch with Canon Liz and she was extremely complimentary about your Profile. Great work by your Search Committee!! 2) COVID cases are on the decline. Next Wednesday the vestry and I will discuss a going back to mask-optional for worship. I think we are very close to that. 3) Lent is now less than two weeks away! Once again here are the services and programs we will offer this season:

You can bring in jars and place them in the basket in the narthex. Many of you will remember that the Catpack Program actually began as a ministry of this parish, and several of our members were instrumental in getting it started and continue to volunteer weekly. It has grown into an integral part of the community’s food outreach to families. I hope you will contribute generously. 2) Our own Alena and Charlie Kennedy will again participate in the Annual Polar Plunge with their team “The Big Freezy” (I think wearing Mardi Gras outfits). Donations can be made online at http://www.sone.org under the Panhandle Polar Plunge. Designate the donation go to the Thunder group or you can give a check to Charlie or Alena and they will get it to Special Olympics Nebraska. If you have lost your mind, I think you can also sign up to brave the freezing waters. See Charlie or Monica and Kathy Shambaugh for details. 3) I think I’ve done about all I can do in terms of big stuff, but am still working on some smaller items that I hope will make your next Rector’s life easier. The latest of these is a project Ann and I are starting next week it updating our church database and printing new photo directories. There are two parts to this — first, we will print out the information we have and sort by family and place in the narthex where you can grab yours, look it over, make any needed additions/corrections, and return it to the office. We should have them out next week. The second piece is your picture. The ones we have are fine but some are getting dated as you all just get more handsome and beautiful! You can handle your picture three ways — you can keep the one you have, you can email Ann a new one, or you can show up on April 24th (my last Sunday) where former Sr. Warden Cory will be available after both services to take a quick pic. I know this will be very helpful for your new Rector and hope you will help us make the new directory as current and complete as possible. ANN’S ADDITIONS Birthdays
