  • The committal service for Jill Wozniak is at West Lawn cemetery this upcoming Saturday at 10 a.m. Her obituary, which was not available when we sent her funeral notice, can be read here. Please continue praying for Jill's family, as well as the families of Nola, Jeanne and Lynne.
    • As your rector, one of my canonical responsibilities is to encourage church members to have a will. Part of that process is funeral preplanning. Let me know if you would like to talk more about this important topic. To help with the planning process, I put together a checklist of information helpful to you, your family and the church. Copies are available in the front office.
  • Worship survey results are being reviewed. Discernment of next steps is in process. Thank you for your participation and patience.
  • I plan to attend the PUP & CAT Packs fundraiser at First UMC this Sunday. (see graphic below) I hope several of you can join me!

  • Our diocese's Annual Council begins this evening and runs through midday Saturday. Thank you Cory Foster and Diane Morrison for your willingness to serve as delegates! Please hold the travel and discernment of all involved in your prayers. For more information on this year's council, please visit: https://annualcouncil.episcopal-ne.org/.
  • Your response to my call for donations to the rector's discretionary was incredibly generous. Thank you so much! Please continue to pray for those who come to us for aid, and me as I discern the fairest, most effective and most pastoral way to utilize available resources.
  • The Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop invites all Episcopalians to participate in a survey to help them develop a profile for our next PB. The survey, which takes about fifteen minutes to complete, is available here and will be open through October 31 (Monday). The election will take place at General Convention in 2024.
  • Godly Play and Sunday School resume 09/11. Ages 5-12 gather upstairs at 9 a.m. Sundays!
  • A reminder to all Vestry Members: our next vestry meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9!

ERIN’S EPISTLETTES
  • Thanks, parents, for sharing your acolytes with us Sunday afternoon. I enjoyed getting to know this wonderful bunch of great kids!
  • This being the fourth Sunday of the month, the Daughters of the King will collect toiletries for those in need. You're invited to bring your baby bottles to church for a special blessing!
  • Our diocese's Annual Council will take place in Kearney at the end of next week! Because of this, I'll be in the office only Monday and Tuesday of next week. For more information on Council, I invite you to check out their website.
  • The primary purpose of the rector's discretionary fund is to provide emergency aid to those in need. Since my arrival in late August, I've been approached ten times for assistance. We were able to provide direct help to five families. (In the other cases, it was more appropriate to refer them to local social service agencies.) Unfortunately, the fund is down to about $100. I invite those who are so moved to participate in this ministry through both prayer and treasure. If you choose to donate, simply indicate "rector's discretionary" on the envelope or check. (We don't have a way to donate to the rector's discretionary fund through Breeze, but we're working on it.) Thank you for your consideration.
  • The Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop invites all Episcopalians to participate in a survey to help them develop a profile for our next PB. The survey, which takes about fifteen minutes to complete, is available here and will be open through October 31. The election will take place at General Convention in 2024.
  • And last but certainly not least, my animal cartoon/meme of the week.

  • Your response to the worship survey remains strong! My heartfelt thanks to the seventy-three parishioners who've completed it so far. I would love to have 100% participation! The survey will remain open for another week, until 10/20. It can be completed online (click here), or paper copies are available in the narthex.
  • Many thanks to those who participated in last Sunday's worship discussion. I appreciated the opportunity to learn about and from each of you.
  • Due to unforeseen circumstances, one of our delegates to diocesan Council has become unavailable. Council is in Kearney October 27-29. Please let me know if you're interested in serving.
  • Please save the date! A celebration of our new ministry together, along with a visit from Bishop Barker, will take place the evening of Friday, January 13.
  • And -- last but certainly not least -- my cartoon in honor of our patron saint, Francis, and his love of all creatures

  • Our discussion on the meaning of worship will take place during coffee hour following Eucharist this Sunday, October 9. To clarify, this will not be a duplication of the questions on the survey. Instead, it will be an expansion of them. I hope it will provide an opportunity to add breadth and depth to our thinking about worship -- its meaning, and why we do it.
  • Your initial response to the opening of our worship survey was strong. I'm pleased to report over fifty submissions as of this writing (on Tuesday afternoon). Thank you to those who participated so far! The survey will remain open until Thursday, October 20. It can be accessed online here, or paper copies are available in the narthex. Let the office know if you need a copy mailed to you.
  • In honor of our patron saint, Francis, and his love for all of God's creatures, my weekly cartoons this month will have an animal theme. I hope you enjoy the first.
